Haitian Amputee Coalition Logo

Logo created for the Haitian Amputee Coalition, an international non-profit organization, led by the Harold and Kayrita Family Foundation, which helped victims of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti to heal and recover, bringing care and prosthetic limbs to those who needed them.

The client asked for two things: one, that the logo avoid any sort of hand or foot solutions, feeling that those would be painful to victims of the quake and their families. Two, that the logo communicate the idea of hope. I chose to use a hummingbird because it is a symbol of hope and because several species of hummingbirds are indigenous to Haiti.
